Day 2- Kayaks, snorkels and Tom

The day started with a bizarre twist. It seems a helpless buffalo wandered into camp to check things out. Although I did not see it, I heard the 'Oh my gods' of a few campers, but it was that point in the morning where 'your tent's on fire' were the only words that were going to get me moving. So I missed out on seeing the beast. Looking out of the front of my tent, I realized why I had dreamt of locker rooms all night long...
We slowly rolled out of our tents and watched Eric prepare lunch on his all too cute stove. Tom was due to arrive on the 11AM boat, so we sat back and waited for him to show. Kaz, Q and  Karen ran into town to grab some essentials before then. I guess the essentials for Kaz included that ice cream cone...

Herr Dadras got in about noon and then the festivities began. It was a great day so we decided to do some kayaking. I excused myself due to my pressing date with a snorkel, but everyone else ventured out onto the unknown of the sea.
Here is a file photo of the kayaks, the gang didn't come down to the cove where I was snorkeling. Something about paddling into the current when kayaking. Anyway, here are some others out there on the water...later on when everyone returned, Jeff and I went back for more snorkeling. The water was pretty clear, although the only interesting fish were just the girbaldis, essentially large mutant goldfish with teeth.

In the evening we decided to head into town for dinner and a little drinking. So we made the journey and ended up eating some decent BBQ on the patio. Seems the restaurant  was booked well into the evening. On the way in however, I did take some nice shots of the harbor from the trail.

Well, it was an awesome sunset, trust me. But this is where you pay the price for using a digital camera. Without an exposure setting, I couldn't get anything close to a good picture of the sunset...but here is my best attempt. After some smores, some star gazing and a lot of chatting we again retired to our tents...at this point I should mention something about the snoring duel Tom and I had, but some things are better left unsaid, or unheard in this case.

Day 3 see who gets voted off the island...
