Utah Pictures 1990
I took these pictures during the summer of 1990 while visiting my brother in Layton, Utah. I used one of the cheesy Kodak panoramic cameras, which had some lens problems (right of frame was underexposed). Besides taking some cool photos, I also saw Total Recall in Ogden.

Mount Ogden seen from Layton. I took this down the street from my brother's house.

Looking up the street, you can see the slope of the street (about 30 deg). Paul's house is on the left of frame (with my mom entering the picture). The houses built on the benches had some insane hills, and when you consider driving on these slopes in the winter....YIKES!

Behind Mt Ogden is Wellsville. I took this looking to the East at some unknown peak.

Another view from the Wellsville area.

Driving back from Wellsville, we took Ogden Canyon. A steeply sloped narrow gorge with a creek running through it. I took this picture looking up the rock slope at the moon (that white dot to the right of center frame).

Another view up the slopes. The moon is that white dot at the top edge of frame...trust me, it looked cool when I took the picture...damn wide lens...

Ah...the biggest eye sore in Utah, the Kennecott Copper Mine. Its one of the largest open pit mines in the world and is easily visible from all of Salt Lake. If only they can disguise it for the olympics.

Mine from the visitor's center. Its about 2 miles across that puppy...

What possessed me to take this, I do not know.

On the same day we went to the mine, we also stopped by the Great Salt Lake. Above the cars you can see the Magna copper smelter which processes most of the ore from the mine above.
The smelly Salt Lake and all those flies that gather around it...off in the distance is Antelope Island.

Here is my mom trekking back from our journey to the lake. Paul is at the far right of frame.
